Do I legally need a safety file?+
If you're doing construction work for a principal contractor in South Africa, yes. The Construction Regulations (2014) and OHSA Section 37 make the PC liable for your acts and omissions — so they will not let you on site without a file. SitePass builds yours to that standard.
What's actually in a safety file?+
Company documents (CIPC, COID Letter of Good Standing, Tax Clearance, Public Liability), Section 16/17 appointments, employee competency certificates and medicals, equipment inspection records, project-specific risk assessments, method statements and safe work procedures, plus the PC's own appendices. SitePass assembles all of this automatically.
Do I still need a safety consultant?+
Many of our contractors don't. SitePass does the document and template work a consultant would charge for. If you need a registered SACPCMP person to sign off appointments or do a site audit, we can refer you — or you can keep using your own consultant alongside SitePass.
Can I share my file with a principal contractor?+
Yes — generate a PDF + ZIP, or send a secure share link. The PC sees a live view, so when your LoGS renews next month, their copy updates too.
What happens when a document expires?+
You and the responsible person get an email at 30, 14 and 0 days before expiry. The dashboard turns the item amber then red until it's replaced. Nothing slips.
Can I import documents I already have?+
